Hippies in San Francisco

This is an interesting, informative and amusing special report from ITN’s ‘Reporting ’67’.

It features the hippies of Haight Ashbury, a street-wide spontaneous happening, the diggers (including Ron Thelin, digger and co-owner of The Psychedelic Shop) a bus tour, and various other hippiesque lifestyle features including hospitalisation due to bad LSD trips..

Assembly of B-29 bombers during WW2

This Images of War propaganda film shows a variety of workers at an American B-29 asembly plant.

The B-29 Super Fortress was the largest bomber to have been made at that time and required enormous resources, constructing the airstrips in China was also very labour intensive and relied on thousands of Chinese building them by hand.

1970s punks in the Kings Road – London

Interesting news report from ITN on the Kings Road punks during the 1970s, their clashes with teddy boys, a look inside Vivienne Westwood’s shop and an interview with a punk on the use of amphetamines. The guy at the end of the clip certainly looks like he’s on something .. 😛
