Prince Charles Break-dancing

In 2003 I got a call from Cold-Cut who were looking for some relatively unknown footage of Prince Charles dancing with some breakers. A search deep in the vaults unearthed a tape covered in a thick layer of dust which contained this rare clip.

Cold-cut have used it in performances around the world where it’s attracted a lot of press attention and now has pride of place amongst the digitised Prince Charles collection at ITN Source.

Italian police motorcycle display

I think this could quite possibly be my fave archive footage clip of all time. I found it whilst scrolling through some digibeta tapes looking for another story and was amazed at what I saw.

It has become one of the most viewed clips on the Diagonal View  youtube channel achieving almost 1 million hits and pops up on Facebook and Twitter from time to time.

On the 107th anniversary of the Italian police a magnificant formation motorcycling display was staged in front of President Giovanni Gronchi.

Coincidentally George Negus’ last name is also the term used for ‘King’ in Ethiopia and was one of Haile Selassie’s titles when he took the throne in 1928
